History.
In 2008, community members came together and purchased the four-acre property with a 3,200 square foot ranch house. That same year, the spare room downstairs was converted into a fully operational sewing studio. Six new Husqvarna sewing machines were donated from the St. Ann’s Men’s Club in Frankfort to support the success of the studio space.
In 2016, Days for Girls held a community potluck and brought on 30 initial volunteers to support the central mission of reaching every girl, everywhere. Period.
Days for Girls is an international non-profit that provides sustainable and effective feminine hygiene solutions to girls and women worldwide. The organization seeks to create a more dignified, humane, and sustainable world for girls through advocacy, reproductive health awareness, education and sustainable hygiene - because no woman should have to go without access to quality sanitary hygiene.
Women’s hygiene kits are cut, pinned, sewn, ironed, and assembled in the sewing studio space and sent to non-profits, mission organizations, and beneficiary-led enterprises in the US and developing nations.
